SUBJECT:

Follow-up Report on Inoperability of Fire Barriers Omaha Public Power District (OPPD) reported in Reference 3 that inoperable fire door 1013-7 would be restored to operable status by June 29, 1990, at which time a follow-up report would be submitted. This report is submitted to inform you that repairs to fire door 1013-7 have not been completed as originally expected due to problems encountered during door replacement.

Fire door 1013-7 is installed in a pyrocrete enclosure and replacement work for  !

this door involves removal of part of the pyrocrete wall that surrounds the door opening. When the door replacement began and the pyrocrete was removed it was discovered that the new door and frame assembly could not be installed to

.the requirements of the Underwriters Laboratory (U.L.) listing, due to the configuration of the structural steel forming the door opening. An engineering design change had to be prepared to modify the steel framing around the door opening to accept the new door frame in accordance with its U.L. listing.
