Special Report on Innperability of Fire Protection Equipment The Omaha Public Power District (0 PPD), holder of Operating License DPR-40, submits this re art pursuant to the requirements of Fort Calhoun Station (FCS)
Unit No. 1, Tec1nical Specification (TS) 2.19, " Fire Protection System."
Technical Specification 2.19(8) requires that the Halon fire suppression systems protecting the Control Room, the Switchgcar Rooms and the Cable S1 reading Room be operable. With a :1alon system inoperable, a continuous fire watc1 with back-up fire suppression equipment is to be established. The inoperable Halon system is to be restored to operable status within 14 days, or a report is to be prepared at a submitted to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission pursuant to TS 5.9.3 within an additional 30 days.
On September 28, 1992, the Halon fire suppres: ion system for the Cable Spreading Room was removed from service for implementation of a modification to upgrade the system. At the time the Halon system was removed from service, the appropriate compensatory measures, as required by TS 2.19(8), were in place.
The Halon system for the Cable Spreading Room was returned to service on October 27,.1992.
Appropriate compensatory measures were in place for the duration of the impairment.
