Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station Docket Number SC-254, DPR-29, Unit One Enclosed is Licensee Event Report (LER)98-005, Revision 00, for Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station.

This report is submitted in accordance with the requirements of the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 10, Part 50.73(a)(1)(i)(B). The licensee shall report any operation or condition prohibited by the Plant's Technical Specifications.

The following commitments are being made by this letter:

1. Engineering Department will assign an owner to oversee the Leak Reduction Program to meet TS requirement 6.8.D.I. Due date 041598.

QTP 0500-14 (and associated QCTP 0820-08) will be revised to better

encompass the program requirements, re-evaluate specific system operating '

procedures and existing station programs which meet periodic inspection requirements, address periodic inspections outside the normal annual periodicity (i.e. when systems are not operated or pressurized during the normal operating cycle) and will refer to TS section 6.8.D.1. Due date 071598.

3.

The remaining system visual leak inspections required to be completed and documented per QTP 0500-14 will be completed as soon as practicable based on system availability. Due date 063098. )
