Docket 50-305 Operating License DPR-43 Kewaunee Nuclear Power Plant Steam Generator Tube Concerns The enclosure to this letter formalizes the information presented by WPSC to the NRC during the meeting of March 28, 1990 in Washington, D.C. This meeting was held to present the WPSC finding concerning the results of the 1990 KNPP steam generator tube inspection.

The report includes a safety evaluation which concludes that KNPP remains within its design and licensing basis and that continued operation does not present an unreviewed safety question. In light of this determination, it is our intent to proceed with our scheduled startup without prior NRC review and approval. Our current schedule places criticality on April 18, 1990. Notwithstanding the above, we are submitting this material for your information.

WPSC would like to take this opportunity to again express our appreciation for your prompt attention and dispatch with regard to this issue. If there are any questions regarding this information, please feel free to contact a member of my staff.
