NRC INSPECTION REPORT 50-305/98015(DRS)
Dear Mr. Marchi:
- On September 4,1998, the NRC completed an inspection of the physical protection program at
' your Kewaunee Nuclear Plant. The results of this inspection were discussed on that date with
Mr. Weinhauer and other members of your staff. The enclosed report presents the results of
that inspection.
The inspection was an examination of activities conducted under your license as they relate to
physical security and to compliance with the Commission's rules and regulations and with the
conditions of your license. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of selective
examinations of procedures and representative records, interviews with personnel and
observation of activities in progress. Specifically, the inspection focused on the training and
qualification program, security and safeguards procedures and documentation, security
organization and administration, and quality assurance in security, in addition, the inspection
reviewed corrective actions on a previously identified violation involving the protection of
safeguards information, and two open items from the previous security inspection.
No violations of NRC requirements were identified. We concluded that those portions of your
security progrcm that were reviewed were effective. Security management provided good
oversight of the program. Management support of this program was evident.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter, the
enclosures, and your response will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
