UNSCHEDULED SHUTDOWN GREATER THAN 48 HOURS Duke Power Company has taken Oconee Unit 3 out of service because of a main turbine bearing failure. Shutdown began at 12:08 a.m. (EDT) on November 7, after verification of turbine high bearing temperatures. The turbine was taken off line at 12:59 a.m.
The unit is expected to be shut down for 5 to 14 days while repairs are made. Oconee Units 1 and 2 are continuing to operate.
