Facility: Oconee Nuclear Power Station

. . . Duke Power Company

Subject:

Bomb Threat The plant supt. called the Region II, Atlanta office, at approximately 11:45 a.m. on 12/23/75, to report that the Duke Power Company had received a telephone call from a man in Spartanburg, S. C. who stated that he had received an anonymous telephone call from someone who said he had placed some radio controlled bombs at the Oconee Plant, as well as at other unnamed power plants, and that he could detonate them anytime he wised to do so. The anonymous caller asked the man in '

Spartanburg to contact the local Spartanburg newspaper and' give them g this information. "

The individual in Spartanburg who re'ceived this call has been very vocal in his opposition to the proposed Duke Power Company utility rate increases but stated to the Duke officals that he did not want to be associated with any such threats, thus he was reporting this information he had received.

The local FBI has been contacted and will contact the man in Spartanburg, S. C.

In accordance with Plant emergency procedures a search is underway and /

is essentially complete with negative results. There was no evacuation.

All three Oconee units are operating at full power. A No news release of this incident is planned.
