FACILITY: Duke Power Company Oconee, Unit No.1 Docket Number 50-269 Oconee County, South Carolina

SUBJECT:

STEAM GENERATOR TUBE LEAK A Unit No.1 shutdown comenced at 12:15 p.m. on April 21 due to a steam generator tube leak of 0.32 gpm. The unit will be placed in cold i shutdown condition, a portion of the reactor coolant system drained, and  ;

the steam generator leak tested to identify the leaking tube (s) for i repair. The estimated duration of the shutdown is two wee,ks. ,

There has been no media interest. A news release was issued on April 21 by the licensee. The NRC does not plan to issue a news release. The

( State of South Carolina has been notified.

Region II (Atlanta) received notification of this occurrence by telephone '

from the licensee at 4:20 p.m. on April 21. This information is current as of 8:00 a.m. on April 24.
