CALIBRATION METHOD FOR OIL SIGHT GLASS level in ring

, The proper center of the oil ,loi rings (inside diameter), lubricated seebearingsFigure 1. is 1/4" above the bottom dead All ring The level oiled turbines gauges haveare two equipped marks which with level indicate gauges the(one minimum in each andbearing maximumbox)l oi levels. These marks are approximately 3/8" (.375) apart.

Because the system is a closed system, the oil level may change due to evapora-tion, water, temperature, or leakage.

This system can be filled with the unit running or shutdown in either case, do not allow oil level to go above high level mark or below low Ievel mark. Too mu::n oil will cause ring draq (slippage of ring), speed of oil ring slows down there-fore less of oil carried to the bearing. Too little oil in bearing box has sas?

- effect, not enough oil will be carried to the bearings.
