1.0 on.iku n.s 1.1 Each valve shall satisfy the criteria set forth by the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Editions and Addenda of Section XI and subsection IW as outlined in Technical Specification (TS) 4.0.5.

1.2 Each motor-operated and air-operated valve shall be demonstrated OPERABLE by actuating to the position designated on the data tables and sheets within the maximum allowable stroke time limit.

1.3 Each air-operated valve shall upon loss of actuator power procure its fail-safe position.

1.4 Each check valve shall be demonstrated OPERABLE by being exercised to the position to fulfill its func-I' tion.

1.5 The power-operated relief valve (PORV) block valve shall be demonstrated OPERABLE at least once per 92 days.

40 - Establish surveillance prior to ascending into applicable mode l MODE NOTES:

SP1 - Special; Valves located inside the Reactor Building or are in areas with ALARA con-cerns, (denoted by asterisks by the valve tag numbers on any of the data sheets or tables) need not have a local full-stroke verification performed each time this proce-dure is performed. However, these valves l shall have a local full-stroke verification at least once every two years.

SP2 - Spscials If valves are in a systes that is out of service, and the surveillance fre-1 quency for this procedure is scheduled, then

j. exercising is not required for such valves except immediately prior to the return of L

the systes to service.

the stroking (or exercising) of a valve to the position required for it to fulfill its func-tion.

3.1.2 LOCAL OBSERVATION: observing the stroke of a valve by means of being at the valve and visually observing that valve, and confirming that remote valve indica-tions accurately reflect valve operation.

3.1.3 REMOTE OBSERVATION: observing the stroke of a valve by means of remote indication, such as could be found on the Master Control Board.

4.3.2 The valve disc, for normally closed check valves, travels away from the seat when the closing pressure differential is removed and flow through the valve is initiated.

7.0 PrRN YM TMATIdif 7.1 This procedure is designed and written to be performed by Nuclear Operators reporting directly to the Shif t Supervisor. There are no additional skills required.

7.2 Tor work located in radiation controlled areas, due consideration should be given to the ALARA program.

This say' result in a determination that special prepa-rations and/or precautions are necessary.

( 7.3 Valve stroke time should be recorded at a remote operating station ubing indicator lights., Local stroke verification should be coordinated with the t

11.0 r=merta w Tre 11.1 If a valve STROKE TIME falls in its high ' ALERT RANGE *, test frequency shall be increased to once each month until corrective action is taken, at which time the original test frequency shall be observed.

11.2 If a containment isolation valve is declared IN0pER-ABLE(seeStep3.1.b) by either exceeding the maximum allowable stroke time or non-fulfillment of its func-i tion, refer immediately to the ' Action Statement

  • of TS 3.6.3.1. Refer 'to CP-102, Inservice Inspection Puap and Valve Data Review and Corrective Action. for additional requirements.

11.3 when corrective action is started on an inoperative valve during a period of cold shutdown, an evaluation of that valve shall be made in reference to the Tech-nical Specifications. If the valve's inoperability does not have a direct tapact on the Technical Spect-fications, other than 4.0.$(b), the startup may proceed, but corrective action shall continue on the valve.

11.4 In the event of any abnormality, erratic action, or

11.5 If a valve stroke time falls below the low value 1n

the ' ALERT RANGE' column of the data tables and sheets, circle the value and list it on the procedure Approval and Transmittal Sheet (PA 8. TS).

11.6 If this procedure is being performed as a post-maintenance test, and any of the acceptance criteria is not met, the ISI Specialist reserves the right to declare the operational status of the valve upon evaluation of the data, which shall be done within 96 hours0.00111 days <br />0.0267 hours <br />1.587302e-4 weeks <br />3.6528e-5 months <br /> upon completion of the' test.

11.7 If acceptance criteria can be changed in this proce-dure, the ISI Specialist will do so, under the normal procedure revision methods.

11.8 The operational declaration, method of determination, or any other consents must be denoted on Enclosure 4 of CP-102, and attached with the transmittal package by the ISI specialist.
