QI-037 Rev. 1 1.0 PURPOSE To provide the methods and requirements for the visual reinspection of pipe supports by the QA/QC Inspection Team for the purpose of verifying the validity of deficiencies identified by the Technical Review Team (TRT).

2.0 APPLICABILITY This procedure is applicable to the pipe supports identified in population items list "TRT Issues-Pipe Supports In Room 77N, Safeguard Building Unit 1."

3.0 REFERENCES

3.1 Memo QA/QC-RT-1664 to M. Obert delineating documentation used in the development of this procedure including specific sources for attributes.

3.2 CPP-009. " Performance of Reinspection and Documentation Reviews."

4.0 CENERAL 4.1 Responsibilities A. QA/QC Discipline Engineers The QA/QC Discipline Engineers prepare the inspection procedure delineating reinspection requirements and attributes.

B. QA/QC Inspectors QA/QC Inspectors perform reinspection / verification in accordance with Ref. 3.2 and thfs inspection procedure.

The results shall be documented on checklist (Attachment 6.4).

4.2 Policy Activities performed under this procedure shall conform to the policies contained in the latest Comanche Peak Response Team Program Plan and Issue-Specific Action Plan (s).

NOTES: 1. The inspector shall indicate the inspection tools used (and serial number / calibration date when applicable) tar filling in the Attachment 6.5. The tool codes required by Attachment 6.5 are listed on Attachment 6.6.

5.1 Support Identification 5.1.1 Verify that the support is permanently marked with the

.; (1) support mark number. Identification may have been accomplished by die stamping, vibro etching or nameplate securely fastened to support structure.

5.1 2 Verify that the installed support components, mark (1) number and configuration are the same as shown on the design drawings (DWG) or component modification card (CMC). Detail dimensional checks are not a requirement for support identification purposes, however, they may be checked to the extent necessary to identify the support.

() 5.2 Pipe Clamp Halves Parallel d

5.2.1 Verify that pipe clamps halves are parallel. For ,

(2) acceptance criteria see Attachment 6.1.

5.2.2 Measure and record the dimensions shown on Attachment l (2) 6.1.

3 5.3 Spherical Bearing Gap 5.3.1 Verify bracket / pipe clamp has installed bearing (3) spacers. It is acceptable to have one spacer.

Record the number of spacers on each side of the spherical bearing on Attachment 6.2.

5.3.2 Verify that the resultant gap (see Attachment 6.2)

(3) between the spherical bearing and the bracket or clamp is less than the thickness of the thinnest installed spacer. Record the resultant gap to the nearest 1/32 inch on Attachment 6.2.

, 5.3.3* If there is more than one size spacer or if the spacer thickness is not as shown on Attachment 6.2, record the nominal thickness of each installed spacer to the i nearest 1/32 inch on Attachment 6.2.

5.4 Snubber Adapter Plate Bolt Thread Engagement Length 5.4.1 Verify minimum thread engagement of bolting in adapter 1

(4) plate. Snubber sizes 1/4 and 1/2 are inaccessible for this inspection. When.these sizes are encountered, enter N/A on the reinspection checklist and note the snubber size in remarks. Acceptance criteria is as follows:

Snubber Size 1 3 10 35 100 Thread Engagement 5/16" 5/16" 9/16" N/A N/A 5.4.2 Record the nominal thickness of the snubber adapter plate, nominal bolt diameter and depth of bolt recess for each recessed bolt as shown on Attachment 6.3.

5.5 Pin and Bolt Locking Devices *

  • NOTE: The pins, bolts, and studs to be inspected for locking devices are shown on Attachment 6.8.

5.5.1 Verify that cotter pins and snap rings are in place l

(5) (see Attachment 6.8).

5.5.3 Verify that the load bolts are provided with (5) locking devices (see Attachment 6.8).

Verify all other threaded fasteners, except SA-193 and SA-325 Bolting Materials and Hilti Bolts, are provided with locking devices as shown in the design drawing.
