1.0 PURPOSE This procedure defines the method utilized to assu e that personnel performing special processes are certified in accordance with appli-cable regulation or specification.

2.0 SCOPE This procedure applies to J. A. Jones personnel enga'ged in the fabri-cation, assembly, installation, erection, maintenance and repair of components, systems and structures of Nuclear Power Plants.

(,1.e. Welding, Cleaning, Nondestructive Examination, Heat Treating, Flushing, etc.) shall be trained, quali fled 'and/or certified as applicable for the specific process.

5.2 It shall be the responsibility of the appilcable Superintendent to have those Individuals under his charge, who will be per-forming special processes, trained,, quallfled and/or certified prior to the performance of the special process.

5.3 Qualifications and/or Certification shall be by means of test-Ing actual performance on items similar to those used in pro-duction.

5.4 The tests shall-be conducted utilizing procedures that have been qualified and approved by J. A. Jones and the Owner / Customer.

5.5 Cadweld Operator certification records shall be maintained by Quality Assurance and copies will be forwarded to the responsible Superintendent. A copy will also be forwarded to the Office Manager to be placed in the employee's personnel folder.

5.6 Weld operator and Waterstop Splicer carification records shall be maintained by Engineering and copies will be forwarded to the responsible Superintendent. A copy will also be forwarded to the Office Manager to be placed in the employee's personnel folder. A copy of each certification shall be forwarded to Quality Assurance for review and filing with Project Records.

(See Appendix A-1 and A-2 for sample forms.)

6.0 PROCEDURES 6.1 The responsible Construction Engineer, upon completion of a Special Process Procedure, shall prepare a qualification test plan when required, which delineates the test method and qualIfIcatlon requirements.

6.2 The Superintendent responsible for the craft or process shall arrange for the testing fact 1Ity.

6.3 Applleants shal1 qualify for the process in accordance with-the approved procedures.

6.4 When applicants successfully qualify, the examiner shall issue a certi fication card for the process.

(See Appendix B-1 and 8-2 for sample cards.),
