1.0 PURPOSE 1.1 This procedure is established to provide a method to follow for the installation of drilled-in expansion type anchors (Seismic Class 1) and for the inspections and documentation required for their control.
2.0 SCOPE t
2.1 This procedure covers anchoring devices (externally threaded wedge expansion bolt snchors, split ring or separate wedge pairs) supplied by Ebasco for attaching Seismic Class 1 pemanent equipment and fixtures to existing hardened concrete in Category I structures.

6.0 INSTRUCTICNS 6.1 Installation 6.1.1 Anchors shall be installed in strict accordance with the re-.ried installation instructicns cf the manufacturer and by i
qualified personnel with appropriate training in installation techniques.
Initial training shall be by an anchor manufacturer's reprecentative with continuing training and inspecticn by cens:-
ruction supervisory perscnnel. (Training shall be documented in accordance with QCp-3070 Indoctrination and Training procedure) 6.1.1.1 On 3/4" diareter, due to the tolerances in the drill bits and anchors, the bolts should be driven into the predrilled Pcles using a pneumatic gun rather than harrering bolts into the holes.
6.1.1.2 The minirun anchor spacing and edge distances for effective. anchor performance is as follows:
(1). Drilled in expansion bolts within a plate shall be in-stalled according tc telt spacing requirenents as shown en the applicable Ebasco design drawings such as B288 series, B430 series, C869502, and reference 3.9.
(2).
Drilled in expansion bolts for adjacent plates shall te installed with a minunum telt spacing of 10 tires diameter of the larger helt, unless ctherwise approved by the Engineer.
(3). Minirun distance from Concrete edges for all drilled in expansion bolts shall be 5 bolt diameter as per manufacturer's reoormendation, unless otherwise approved by the Engineer.
6.1.2 Holes for expansion belts shall be drilled in strict accordance with manufacturer's installation recemnendations. A rotary /per-cussicn type drill and solid corecarbide bits ( of the same ncninal diareter as the expansion bolt) shall be used te drill all holes, unless otherwise directed by the ergineer.
6.1.3 Reinforcing steel placement drawings and pachcreter ( or acceptable alternate rebar locator) shall be used to nu.nimize anchor inter-ference with reinforcing steel.
If reinforcing steel is encount-ered during anchor installation, the anchor shall be relocated so as not to interfere with reinforcing steel.
In no case shall concrete reinforcina steel be cut unless prior approval is given by the Engineer.
Any holes not used shall be fillec with drypack crout neeting the requirements of para. 6.5.

6.1.4 The wedge of expansien holts shall be ebedded between er behind the near side reinforcing steel.
6.1.5 All anchcrs shall be set within the toreue rance recarended by the manufacturer based en en-site testing subject te review and acceptance of the Engineer. A ranua11y enerated calibrated torque wrench shall be used to measure the tcrg e.

6.2 Insrection
At time of inspection of the installation, the insoector shall assure that proper installation ecui: rent as recarended by the anchor manufacturer is being used and doc rent verification en Exhibit 7.1.
6.2.1 All expansien anchcrs shall be visually irwed fer preter length and a mini:nr of 1 full thread extending above the tcp of the nut.
6.2.2 All anchors shall be insrected by tercue testing and cne cut of each 100 anchers installed shall be tested by tensiener -
testing (see Para. 6.3.1).

6.3 Testinc in Place-6.3.1 Testine Methods:
6.3.1.1 Tercue Testinc:
Installed anchers shall be tested with a calibrated manually operated torcue wrench. Tercue values as specified by the ranufacturbr for the static tensile test loads based en en-site testine by the Encineer

IME: When gauges used for expansion anchor tensioner test, measure readings in pounds per square inch, the conversion to pourds is :rade by multiply 1rq the PSI gauge reading by the cross sectional area of the ram.
Exarrie:
For 3/8" anchor, if reading is 490 PSI, then 490 PSI. X 2.973 sq. in. = 1455 lbs.
In this case, 2.973 sq. in. is the cross sectional area of the ram.
6.3.2.1 Tensioner Testinc:
The term " slip excessively" shall mean that the washer can be turned by hand while the bolt is under the test load.
If the test anchor representing a group of 100 anchors satisfies the acceptance criteria, all anchors in the group shall be considered acceptacle.
6.3.2.2
'Ibruue Testinc:
When the prescribed torque (Table No. 1) to obtain the static tensile test load of Table 2 is reached, no further rotation of the nut shall occur.
6.3.3 Retest (Tensioner Testinc)
If the test anchor does not reet the acceptance criteria above. 3-additional anchors from the sa. e group shall be tested.
If all three
' additional test anchors satisfy the acceptance criteria above all terraining anchors in' that group shall be deened acceptable.
If any of the 3 anchors fall the second test all anchors in that group shall be tested. (See 6.4) 6.4 Recair of Test Anchor Failures:
All test anchors that fail shall be repaired as follcws according to fs1 lure node and re-tested.
6.4.1 The expansion anchor shall be replaced with an anchor that has an increased a.isier.nt depth as shcwn on Table 3, unless otherwise directed by the Engineer.
The damaged concrete shall be repaired in accordance with Para. 6.5 and then a new hole drilled and the new anchor installed.
As an alternate, the bolt may be relocated.,

The expansion anchor shall be recoved and replaced with sare size or a larger sized anchor (after hole is redrilled) if the sur:cunding concrete has not been damaged.

rencved and replaced with a bolt that.has an increased ebedment depth as shcwn in Table 3, unless othersise directed the Engineer.

6.5 Pecair of Caraced Cencrete:
6.5.1 All materials, procedures, and operations used in the repair of concrete and also the finished work shall be the restensibility of and subject to the inspection and approval of the Engineer. Mercury shall notify E3ASCO when abandoned holca in concrete or daraged concrete need filling and/or repairing.
6.6 Docurentation
6.6.1 A log shall be kept of all installed drilled-in expanslor.

6.6.2 Test inspection records that shall include, as a mini m.,
the location of anchor (and the group represented for tensioner test), the methcx1 of test, test results, inspector's name and the date of test.
