l On 3/21/83, at 1810 CST, with both units at steady state i operation: Unit 1 at 2414 MWt and Unit 2 at 1697'MWt.

i The fire alarmLand the fire pump running alarm were. received i in the main control room. Plant personnel were immediately-i dispatched to investigate the alarm condition. Plant j personnel found the electric fire pump and both . diesel. fire '

, each tank). Plant personnel found the deluge system for lB j cooling tower tripped and the main header ruptured.

Immediate Corrective Action i The deluge valve - and the . main t header were - isolated and the fire water storage' tanks' levels were restored to meet . the requirements of Unit 1 Tech. Specs. section 3.13.2.b and Unit-2 Tech. Specs. section 3.7.6.1.b within 5. hours and 50 minutes..

Cause .

Supplemental Corrective Action

Status of Redundant or-Backup Systems Remainder of the Fire Protection system is performing as required.

Impact to Other Units The occurrence is applicable to both Unit 1 and Unit 2. Unit 1 requires a 30-day special report and Unit 2 requires a 24-hour notification and 14-day special report.

Justification for Continued Operation Continued operation is justified due to the Fire Protection system, Fire Tank levels and Fire Pumps being returned to normal conditions.
