Over the course of the month, minor load reductions were performed during hot weather to ensure circulating water system parameters were maintained within pre-established guidelines and allow for the monitoring and evaluation of summertime operation at extended power uprate conditions. Shift reduced load to approximately 650 GMWe on 7/12/99 when vacuum in the main condenser began decreasing, investigation revealed the inlet valve to the "A" Offgas Preheater had failed cic> sed. The valve was reopened and the unit was returned to approximately 2635 CMWT later the same day. Shi.1 reduced load to approximately 600 GMWe on 7/24/99 to perform a control rod sequence exchange, scram time testing, turbine control valve testing, and control rod drive exercises. The unit was returned to 2680 CMWT on 7/25/99. Shift increased reactor power to 2690 CMWT on 7/27/99 and to 2700 CMWT on 7/30/99. Shift continued to maintain approximately 98% of rated thermal power for the remainder of the month. E1-2

The unit attained 2708 CMWT late in the day on 7/1/99. Shift reduced load to approximately 830 ' l GMWe on 7/2/99 to perform a rod pattern adjwaent. The unit was returned to 2708 CMWT la'er the same day. Shift reduced load to approximately 675 GMWe on 7/18/99 to perform a control rod sequence exchange and turbine control valve testing. The unit was returned tc 2708 CMWT later the same day. Shift reduced load to approximately 877 GMWe on 7/22/99 due to increasing circulating water temperature and decreasing vacuum in the main condenser. Shift returned the unit to 2708 CMWT on 7/23/99. Shift continued to maintain cpproximately 2708 CMWT for the remainder of the month. E2-2 I I}}
