CAUSE/ CORRECTIVE ACTION / COMMENTS:

NARRATIVE REPORT Unit 2 operated et rated thermal power for most of the month of April. Shift reduced load to approximately 485 GMWe on 4/5/98 to perform a control rod sequence exchange and to facilitate maintenance activities in condenser bay. The unit was returned to rated thermal power on 4/6/98.

Shift began reducing load on 4/19/98 after entering a Technical Requirements Manual Required Action Statement whan the M combined intermediate valve (CIV) would ne* test during the monthly operability surveillance.

Failure of M CIV to test was determined to be the result d a faulty coil on the test solenoid valve. The solenoid was replaced and M CIV was successfully tested. Shift terminated the load reduction at approximately 275 GMWe following the successful testing of M C1V. The unit was returned to rated thermal power on 4/19/98.
