Main Steam Safety Valve Setpoints

Dear Sir ,

1 This letter contains a proposed amendment to the Technical Specification.s-(TS) for Facility Operating' License Nos. NPF-35 and NPF-52 for Catawba Nuclear Station Units 1 and 2. This amendment will change the allowable tolerance value for the Lift Setting of the Steam Line Safety Valves for Unit 2 in Table 3.7-2 of the TS. This change will be.in effect until the first forced outage, reactor trip, or refueling outage at which time, Catawba Unit 2 will be brought into compliance with the original TS.

Catawba' Unit 1 is already in compliance with the TS, however, it is included herein administrative 1y because both Unit's TSs are included in one document.

4 It is requested that this proposed amendment receive timely review and approval under the Emergency License Provision of 10 CFR 50.91 (a) (5).

Failure to grant the requested change will result in a forced power i

.. reduction of Catawba Unit 2 as required by Table 3.7-1 of the TS. I request a written temporary waiver of compliance until such time as t'nis proposed #
