• Pursuant to 10 CFR 50.90, attached are proposed revisions to Technical Specification 4.4.5, Steam Generator Surveillance Requirements. These changes will delete references to steam

. generator tube. sleeving and repair that will not be used for the Westinghouse Model D5 steam. generators in use at Catawba Unit 2. Unused paragraph numbers and one typo will be cleaned up by this amendment.

The requested change applies to Catawba Unit _2 only. Similar changes were approved for Catawba Unit 1 on August 29, 1996 by Amendment No. 151. Attachment 1 contains the marked up and typed Technical Specification and Bases pages and Attachment 2 contains the Technical Justification, No Significant Hazards Analysis and Environmental Impact Assessment. The Updated Final Safety Analysis Report will not be' impacted by the proposed changes.

Pursuant to 10 CFR 50.91(b) (1), a copy of this amendment request has been provided to the appropriate South Carolina state officials.

These proposed changes have been reviewed and approved by the Catawba Plant Operations Review Committee and the corporate Nuclear Safety Review Board.
