Attachment'1 contains a brief description of the enclosed amendment request. It also contains the marked-up copies of the affected T/S pages indicating the proposed changes.

Attachment 2 contains a description of the proposed changes l along with the required Technical Justification and j assessment of the impact to the McGuire and Catawba FSARs.

Attachment 3 also contains an Environmental Impact Analysis for the requested amendments. Attachment 4 contains new updated TS l pages for the requested amendment.  !

Pursuant to 10CFR 50. 91 (b) (1) , a copy of this amendment request is being provided to the appropriate North Carolina and South Carolina state officials.

l Attachment 1 Proposed Technical Specification Amendment:

To revise McGuire and Catawba Technical Specifications 3.9.6 to achieve the following:

  • Changing the term " lifting loads" to " lifting force" to coincide with the term as it is described in the T/S Bases. This will bring the T/S requirement in line with the T/S Bases.
  • Claritication of the role of the static loads associated with the lifting tool, drive rod and control rod weights in the 600 pound indicator reading limit in T/S 3.9.6b.

. To more accurately define the auxiliary hoist minimum capacities and give a more expanded description of the activities for which protective measurcs and surveillance testing are utilized.
