Gentlemen:
Pursuant to 10CFR50.4 and 10CFR50.90, attached is a supplement to a license y
amendment request to Appendix A, Technical Specifications, of Facility Operating E
Licenses NPF-35 and NPF-52 for Catawba Nuclear Station Units 1 and 2, respectively. The proposed amendments allow the reactor coolant (NC) system gross specific activity measurement method to be changed from the current degassed method to a non-degassed, or pressurized dilution, method. The proposed supplement is being submitted pursuant to a telephone conversation between R.E. Martin of the i
NRC and L.J. Rudy of Catawba concerning the proposed wording of the footnote for

gross specific activity determination. The proposed supplement is editorial in nature i
only (deletes the words "the sum of" in the footnote in addition to the previously submitted changes) and does not change the intent of the August 8,1995 submittal.
In addition, the previously submitted technical justification, No Significant Hazards j
Consideration, and Environmental Impact Analysis continue to remain valid. A copy i ~
of this supplement is being provided to the appropriate South Carolina state official.
