Duke Energy Corporation.
Catawba Nuclear Station Units 1 and 2 Docket Nos. 50-413, 50-414 Proposed Amendment to the Catawba Safety Review Group Technical Specifications Pursuant to 10CFR 50.90, Duke Energy is requesting an amendment to the Catawba Nuclear Station Facility Operating License and Technical Specifications (TS).
The proposed amendment applies to the TS requirements associated with the composition of the Catawba Safety Review Group.
The content of this amendment package is as follows:
Attachment la provides a marked copy of the current Technical Specifications showing the proposed changes.
Attachment lb provides a marked copy of the Improved Technical Specifications (ITS) license amendment request which was submitted May 27, 1997. b is intended to facilitate NRC staff review of the ITS submittal and to ensure that the ITS submittal contains all pending license amendment requests.
Duke requests that the affected pages in the ITS submittal be replaced by the pages in Attachment lb. provides the proposed new TS pages. provides Discussion and Technical Justification for this proposed amendment.
Pursuant to 10CFR 50.92, Attachment 4 documents the determination that the proposed amendment contains No Significant Hazards Considerations.
Pursuant to 10CFR51.22 (c) (9), Attachment 5 provides the basis for the categorical exclusion from performing an Environmental Assessment / Impact Statement.

In accordance with Duke administrative procedures and the Quality

Assurance Program Topical Report this proposed amendment has been reviewed and. approved by the Catawba Plant Operations' Review Committee and the Duke Nuclear Safety Review Board.
Pursuant to 10CFR 50.91, a copy of this proposed amendment is being sent to the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control for review and, as deemed necessary and appropriate, subsequent consultation:with the NRC Staff.
