Subject:

IE Bulletin 80-07 BWR Jet Pump Assembly Failure

Dear Mr. Seyfrit:

The subject bulletin required an ultrasonic examination of the jet pump hold-down beams and a visual examination of the jet pump components.

Your office was to be promptly notified on the results of the inspec-tions.

A telephone call from L. C. Lessor to R. Spangler was made on May 5, 1980 to state that the inspection had been completed and no crack in-dications were found during the UT examination. The UT examination was performed by GE using procedure TP-508.0654, Rev. B. This is the ap-propriate procedure for a BWR 4 and is equivalent to the procedure TP-508.0642 (Rev. A) referenced in the IEB. Also, there were no abnormal conditions noted during the visaat inspection that was made. The visual inspection was made with an underwater TV camera.

If you have any questions, please contact me.

Sincerely, M

J. .. Pilant Director of Licensing and Quality Assurance JMP:LCL:cg '
