SHEARON HARRIS NUCLEAR POWER PLANT DOCKET NO. 50-000/LICENSE NO. NPF-53 TRANSAMERICA DELAVAL,INC. (TDI) DIESEL GENERATORS

Dear Mr. Denton:

In a letter dated October 20, 1986, Carolina Power t".t: Light Company (CPRL) was issued an Operating License for the Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant (SHNPP), Unit 1. , paragraph 7b, to the license states that: "Prior to full power operation of Shearon Harris, the licensees shall provide the NRC with the following:

b. The inspection frequencies in the maintenance matrix that are to be determined by the licensees."

The attached information provides the information requested in License Condition 7.b. of . Should you have any questions concerning this letter, please contact Mr. Patrick Carier at (919) 836-8165.

Yours very truly, S.. Zimm man r

C Page 1 of 5 ATTACHMENTTO NLS-86-038 SHEARON HARRIS NUCLEAR POWER PLANT TDI DIESEL GENERATORS MAINTENANCER SURVEILLANCE FRE UENCIES (As of November 20, 1986)

The purpose of this table is to summarize the application of the "As Required" frequency as identified in the TDI Owners'roup Maintenance and Surveillance (MRS) Program, Revision 2, which was transmitted to NRC via CPRL Letter No. NLS-86-181 on 3une 5, 1986. Each recommendation in the MRS Matrix (Parts B, C, and D) for which there is no "X" in a frequency column or a timing reference in the "Comments" column, is addressed in this table. However, as an example, if the MRS Program identifies that a filter is to be replaced at 20 psid, then that is the criterion and it is not addressed in this summary table.

The frequencies identified in this table can be found in appropriate site procedures.

However, this summary table does not represent a commitment t'o utilize the identified frequencies forever. The table simply represents the "starting point," and the identified frequencies are subject to revision based upon experience.

'C The component numbers utilized are those in the MkS Program which are not necessarily the SHNPP numbers. Also some of the recommended MRS items have been paraphrased, but the identified recommendation number is the same as that in the Owners'roup MRS Program.
