Dear Mr. Denton:
This letter and its attachments are in response to Mr. S. A. Varga's letter of August 8, 1981 which requested additional information on the Westinghouse Summary Report of the Reactor Vessel Level Instrumentation System (RVLIS) for monitoring inadequate core cooling.
Attachment 1 entitled, "Responses to NRC Request for Additional Information on the Westinghouse RVLIS Summary Report" contains the requisite information to address those questions asked in Mr. Varga's letter, except for items 2, 9, 10, 12, 16 and 20.
Item 2 is addressed in Attachment 2.
Item 16 is not applicable to D. C. Cook Plant since the RVLIS being installed is an analog system, not a microprocessor system..
s The information contained in Attachment 1, in its entirety, is
.proprietary to the Westinghouse Electric Corporation and must be treated in the same manner as the RVLIS Summary Report submitted in our letter.

further addresses this.
The remaining items 9, 10, 12 and 20 are still being addressed by Meetinghouse Electric-Corporation'with ari anticipated completiiin date of pgOI late-September.
The, responses to these items will be transmitted by separate submittal upon receipt and review of those responses.

- system, which is not applicable to the D. C.
Cook Plant system, the response is included to alleviate the possible misunderstanding of the RVLIS performance.
Also please note that the reference made to ITT Barton Model 752, level 8, transmitters in the discussion of Attachment 1 should be replaced with ITT Barton Model 764,'evel A, transmitters for the D. C.
Cook Plant.
