This letter responds to the request for information made Eisenhut in his letter of November 9, 1979 concerning

the licensing validity of the current ECCS analysis for the D. C. Cook Plant in light of the newly-released clad behavior data. Due to the extent of the analysis required and as a result of additional work recently required by the NRC for Mestinghouse fuel, we are unable to completely answer Hr.

Eisenhut's concerns within the specified sixty day deadline.

tle have discussed the reasons for this delay with members of your staff and have a'greed to submit all the required in-formation by January 22, 1980 for both Units 1 and 2. In the interim we will operate Unit No. 1, which utilizes Exxon fuel, according to current Technical Specification limits. Exxon's preliminary analysis has confirmed that these limits remain valid. In the case of Unit No. 2, which utilizes Westinghouse 8001> ZO~Z

Mr. Harold R. Oenton, Oirector AEP'NRC:00322A fuel, we will. administratively limit the overall Fq to 1.99. This limit is based on preliminary analysis performed by Westinghouse using the calculational guidelines established by your staff at meetings held in late Oecember, 1979.
