SUMMARY

OF OPERATING EXPERIENCE DOCKET NO. 501395 UNIT V. C. SUMMER I DATE June 6, 2003 COMPLETED BY W. H. BELL TELEPHONE (803) 345-4389 May 2003 At 01:02 on 05/12103 the reactor tripped. The reactor trip was caused by the opening of the main generator breaker which caused a turbine trip which then caused the reactor to trip. The main generator breaker opened due to the failure of contacts in the generator field breaker. This circuitry was repaired and modified by adding a set of backup contacts. Repairs were completed and the reactor became critical at 21:20 on 05/14/03. The main generator breaker was closed at 03:32 on 05/15/03. 100% power was achieved at 12:00 on 05/16/03. V. C. Summer Station operated at 100% power at all other times during the month of May, 2003.
