SUMMARY
REPORT ASSOCIATED WITH THE U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION STAFFS REVIEW OF THE SUBSEQUENT LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION FOR VIRGIL C. SUMMER NUCLEAR STATION, UNIT 1 (EPID NUMBER: L-2023-SLE-0003) (DOCKET NUMBER: 50-395)
Dear Eric Carr:
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff conducted the environmental scoping process and solicited public comments pursuant to Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) Part 51.29 from November 3, 2023, through December 4, 2023. This process helped determine the scope of the staffs environmental review for the Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Station, Unit 1 (V.C. Summer) application for subsequent license renewal of the facility operating license. The scoping process was the first step in the development of the V.C.
Summer plant-specific supplement to NUREG-1437, Generic Environmental Impact Statement for License Renewal of Nuclear Plants.
At the conclusion of the scoping process, the staff prepared the enclosed environmental scoping summary report identifying comments received during the scoping period. In accordance with 10 CFR Part 51.29(b), the NRC staff will send a copy of the scoping summary report to each participant in the scoping process.
