A main turbine aka main generator trip is a common reason for a reactor to experience a automatic scram. When the generator trips, it means that the energy from the reactor doesn't have anywhere to go; and it is usually too much steam for the main condenser to cool. Therefore, trip systems are designed to initiate a scram.
