Dear Mr. Faust:

This is in response to your letter dated October 11, 1985, in which you requested, pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act (F0IA), a copy of the transcript of the Commission briefing held on June 3,1985, which preceded the licensing hearing for the Wolf Creek nuclear power plant.

Three Commission meetings were held on June 3,1985, regarding the Wolf Creek plant, and the transcripts of those meetings are identified on the enclosed appendix. The _ transcript of the first meeting pertains to a briefing on the Office of Investigations' review of the Wolf Creek licensee's Quality 1 program. Portions of the transcript are being withheld pursuant to Exemptions (5) and (7) of the Government in the Sunshine Act (5 U.S.C. 6552b(c)(5) and (7)) and 10 CFR 9.104(a)(5) and (7) of the Commission's regulations.

The transcripts of the second and third meetings held on June 3,1985, as well as the released portions of the first meeting are already available in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR) located at 1717 H Street, NW, Washington, DC 20555. I have indicated the file location beside each document description.

There is no charge for inspecting records maintained in the PDR. We are enclosing a copy of a notice that provides charges and procedures for obtaining copies of records from the PDR.

Pursuant to 10 CFR 9.15 of the Commission's regulations, it has been determined that the information withheld is exempt from production or disclosure and that its production or disclosure is contrary to the public interest. The person responsible for this denial is Mr. John C. Hoyle, Assistant Secretary of the Commission.
