Dear Mr. Eye:
This is in response to your letter dated February 19, 1987 which asked when you may expect a response to the 2.206 petition filed by the Government Accountability Project (GAP) on May 15, 1985 and amended on May 31, 1985.
While we realize that this matter has been pending for some time, our response to GAP's petition requires the completion of a significant investigative effort by the NRC Office of Investigations. This investigation is continuing.
Completion of the investigation is currently scheduled for July 1987, and the response to the GAP petition will be issued in a timely manner following the completion of the investigation by the Office of Investigations.
