Attached is Licensee Event Report (LER) 98-017-00 for Waterford Steam Electric Station Unit 3. This report provides details of a condition in which an error in the energy redistribution factors used in the Waterford LOCA analysis resulted in exceeding the criteria for peak cladding temperature given in 10 CFR 50.46(b)(1).
This condition is being reported pursuant to 10 CFR 50.73(a)(2)(ii)(B) as a condition outside of the plant's design bas.is. Pursuant to 10 CFR 50.72(b)(1)(ii)(B), this condition was also reported to the NRC via a telephone conversation at 12:56 Eastern Standard Time on August 3,1998.
