The firewatch patro', was immediately performed for the 1500-1600 hour and all sub-sequent hours as required. Health / safety of the public was not affected.

At 1500 on 1-23-84, an offgoing system operator notified the control room that he had failed to perform an hourly firewatch patrol in the B train auxiliary building battery charger room for the 1300-1400 and 1400-1500 hours. An oncoming system operator was immediately sent to the area to perform the firewatch patrol for the 1500-1600 hour. The firewatch patrol was performed corractly until no longer required.

This event was caused by personnel error. The individual assigned to the firewatch patrol became involved in other work and failed to perform the firewatch patrol. The individual involved has been counseled concerning the necessity of performing required firewatch patrol or of notifying the control room so that other personnel may perform them.
