Asperyourrecenttelephonerequest,wehaveconductedadditionaltestssimul'atingthe'condenserdrainflowjetimpingement,withwaterelevationinthesumpcorrespondingtoEl.607'0".ThisconditionpresumablydescribestheswitchoveroffirstECCStraintorecircula-tionmodetakingintoaccountthevolumeofwaterduetoicecondensermeltandassumingabreakinsidethebiologicalboundary(notin'eludedinmodel).Testswereconductedwithandwithoutscreenblockages(upto504)andwithbothdrainflowjetandsuctionpipevelocitiesincreasedto,prototypevelocities.Testsindicatednonoticeablewithdrawalofairbubblesthroughthesuctionpipeinoperation.Eventhoughlargesurfaceair-entrainmentduetodrainflowjetimpingementwasobserved,mostofthebubblesdidnotpenetrate'thewatersurfacedeepenoughtoenterintothesumparea.Thefewbubblesthatenteredthesumpaeawerelargeenoughtoriseupandwerenotdawncownunderthecranewallextensiontothedownstreamportionof:thesumo.Also,nosicnificantvorticeswereobservedduringthetesting.Hence,wefeelthatbasedonthemodeltestresults,th'esumpperformedsatisfactorilyattheaboveflowconditiontested.Ifyouhaveanyquestions,pleasefeelfreetocallme.Sincerely,M.PadmanabhanLeadResearchEngineerFluidMachineryHOLOLN.MASSACHUSFTTSor520~VELEPHOhre6178294323
