Inspection Report No. 70-1100/87-06 A special, unannounced inspection was conducted by Ms. Jean A. Gresick-Cioffi of this office on November 16-18, 1987, to review concerns raised as a result of two allegations received by telephone, in the NRC Region I office, on October 29 and November 5, 1987.

This inspection consisted of selective examination of records, interviews with personnel, and observations made by the inspector. Our inspector also participated in an opening conference with representatives from the Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) on November 17, 1987.

The purpose of the OSHA visit was to respond to allegations of industrial hygiene and industrial safety concerns provided to our inspector during an inspection conducted in October,1987.

Within the scope of this review, an additional example of a violation, previously identified in NRC Inspection Report No. 70-1100/87-05,was identified.

Details are discussed in the enclosed report.

The need for and the nature of appropriate enforcement actions for this and the previously identified violations will be the subject of separate correspondence at a later date.
