NRC INSPECTION REPORT NO. 070-1100/98-01

Dear Mr. Conant:

This letter refers to the inspection conducted by Mr. James Kottan of this office on November 16-18,1998, of activities authorized by NRC License No. SNM-1067 at the ABB Combustion Engineering Facility, Windsor, Connecticut, and to the discussione ef our findings held by Mr. Kottan with yourself and other members of the ABB Combustion Engineering staff.

Areas examined during this inspection are important to public health and safety and are described in the NRC Region i Inspection Report which is enclosed with this letter. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures and representative records, interviews with personnel, and observations by the inspector.

Within the scope of this inspection, we noted that you continued to maintain effective programs for implementing the provisions of your license. You maintained effective control of radioactive material in storage and control of facility activities to maintain worker radiation protection. No violations of regulatory requirements were observed and no response to this letter is required.
