Dear Chairman Murphy:

The AEC Staff's August 18 submission suggests the possibility of an additional "one-day hearing (which might be held in New York City) to give Mapleton an oppor-tunity to conduct its cross-examination of Dr. Gysel."

This Mapleton submission is so remote that the '

Board should not consider 1*: at all. Certainly no signifi-cant prejudice could result from taking the written materials for what they are worth. To schedule an additional Hearing after the record has been closed, in light of the history of this litigation, is so extraordinary a form of relief as to be called for only under the most extreme circumstances.

We object to any reopening of the !! caring except upon a

showing of such circumstances.

Respectfully, g-6px- . C..e .s; Milton R. Wessel MRW:tg cc: To all parties as per the attached Certificate of Service .
