Dear Mr. Felton:

We are the attorneys for J. L. Manta, Inc., which is a defendant in a lawsuit filed against it and Ameron, Inc., by Consumers Power Co. (of Michigan) and Bechtel Power Corporation.

The lawsuit arises out of a containment internal structures coating deficiency in the containment and other buildings at the Midland Nuclear Power Plant which is owned by Consumers Power Co. of Jackson, Michigan.

We have received information via the Public Service Commission in Lansing, Michigan that certain " Biennial Quality Audits and an Independent Design Verification" were performed at Consumers Power Co. Them Audits and Verification were requested by Consumers in order to comply with some regulation of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

Our request via this letter, therefore, would be to request copies of any Biennial Quality Audits for the years 1978, 1980 and 1982, and an Indpendent Design Verification of 1982 from your Public Document Room. Can you verify that these documents exist in the PDR? And, if so, will you have your office contact me (collect by telephone if necessary) with regard to the documents that you may or may not have.
