United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission ,

Office of Inspection and Enforcement Region III 799 Roosevelt Road Glen Ellyn, Illinois 60137 ATTN: Mr. James G. Keppler" Regional Director RE: WM. H. ZIMMER NUCLEAR POWER STATION - UNIT 1 IE BULLETIN 80-16, DOCKET # 50-358 W.O. 57300, JOB E-5590, FILE # 957-3R Gentlemen:

This is in response to the above IE Bulletin concerning Rosemount Model 1151 and 1152 pressure transmitters which may exhibit an ambiguous output signal when over or under pressurized.

We are undertaking an investigation of where and how these transmitters are being used in our systems. General Electric has identified forty six (46) model 1151's and one (1) model 1152 supplied under the NSSS scope of supply. They will analyze the possible ramifications of using these transmitters in the systems under their responsibility and initiate any corrective action re-quired where these transmitters could cause adverse system operation.

The Cincinnati Gas 6 Electric Company has purchased thirty-five (35) model 1152's, twenty two (22) of which have been installed and thirteen (13) not yet delivered. The same analysis will be done on the systems containing these trcnsmitters. We have not purchased any model 1151 transmitters.

A complete report on all of these transmitters along with corrective actions taken, will be issued upon completion of the investigation.

Very truly yours, THE CINCINNATI GAS 6 ELECTRIC COMPANY
