Dear Mr. Denton:

Please refer to my letter of December 13, 1978 on the referenced topic. Discussions with the NRC Staff on February 2 and February 15 indicated that there was a need to clarify one point in the December 13, 1978 letter.

Our response to NUREG-0313 Section III is hereby amended to contain the following statement: " Individual weld heat affected zones on service sensitive piping will be evaluated based on Stress Rule Index Calculations for the purpose of selecting candidate welds for augmented in-service inspection."
