U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Docket No. 50-39

'

-

Region II 101 Marietta Street, Suite 3100 Atlanta, Georgia 30303

Dear Mr. O'Reilly:

Pursuant to the provisions of 10CFR 50.55(e), the NRC Region II was notified on December 20, 1979, that the differential pressure switches on the service water strainers to the Unit 2 control room air conditioning chillers were not seismically qualified. These switches (PDS-HV-2228 A

.

and B) serve to automatically initiate operation of self-cleaning strainers 2-HV-S-1A and IB on high differential pressure.

Equivalent differential pressure switches, with previous seismic qualifica-tion on file, have been ordered to replace the existing switches. This replacement will be completed prior to initial fuel loading of North Anna 2.
