l SUSQUEHANNA STEAM ELECTRIC STATION AIR CONTAMINATION SOURCE OPERATING PERMIT #40-311-008 CEMENT STORAGE SILO CCN 741326 FILE R9-9C PLE- 8546

Dear Mr. Smith:

Air Contamination Source Operating Permit #40-311-008 for cement storage silo at Susquehanna SES is due for renewal October 1, 1986. At this time, PP&L does not wish to renew this permit.

The silo was originally installed to store cement to be used for the solidification of radiological waste. This equipment has not been utilized because the solidification process has been handled by an outside contractor.

PP&L currently has no plans to operate the cement storage silo. If the silo is needed in the future, the appropriate permit (s) will be secured at that time.
