As required by Act PL 834 it is necessary that PP&L inform Salem Townsh'ip that it is submitting 'a Demolition Waste Disposal Permit Application to D.E.R. for Site 8'2 in the vicinity of the Intake Structure on the floodplain.

"Pennsylvania Power 6 Light Company (PPGL) plans to dispose of silt and sediment collected .during maintenance of the Susquehanna S.E.S. Intake Structure. According to Section 75.33(b) of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources (Pa.DER) Solid Waste Management Rules and Regulations, all of the above wastes are classified as Class I Construction and Demolition Wastes. These ~astes totalling about 5,000 cubic yards (cy) (over ten years) of material include:

0 . river silt 0 river sediment A separate borrow area will not be required to supply cover soils for the proposed disposal area. When all disposal operations at the site are completed, the wastes will receive a final grading and will be covered with soil."
