November 11, 1986 Mr. James P. LaBuz Sanitary Engineer Bureau of Community Environmental Control Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources 90 East Union Street, Second Floor Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701-3296 SUSQUEHANNA STEAM ELECTRIC STATION EMERGENCY DOMESTIC WATER PERMIT PWS ids 2400994 and 2400998 CCN 741326 FILE R9-8B PLE-8878
Dear Mr. LaBuz:
As we discussed during our November 5, 1986 telephone conversation, the Pennsylvania Power 6 Light Company requested an Emergency Domestic Water Permit for a maximum of 30 days. This letter is to confirm that the Pa DER approved an Emergency Permit for the above stated period. The purpose of this permit is to switch temporarily from river water (PWS ID 2400998) to well water (PWS ID 2400994) in order to repair a broken reactivator mixing impeller.
On November 6, 1986, the mixing impeller was repaired and the reactivator went back into service. Because of the speed of this fix, samples were not taken for the nine volatile organic carbons listed in the "New Source Sampling and Testing Matrix." These samples, however, will be taken within the next few weeks and the results will be forwarded to you.
This letter is being forwarded to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources in response to the requirements of operating permit No. 4085504.
If you have any questions, please contact me at (215) 770-7889.
Respectfully yours, W
