OF THE APRIL 4, 2007, PUBLIC MEETING TO DISCUSS THEMONTICELLO NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT END-OF-CYCLE PLANT PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENTOn April 4, 2007, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) held a public meeting at theMonticello Community Center in Monticello, MN. The meeting was between NRC Region III management and Nuclear Management Company representatives to discuss the NRC's assessment of the Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant's safety performance for the period from January 1 through December 31, 2006. The meeting notice can be found in ADAMS as Accession Number ML070710580 and the NRC presentation slides as ML071020489. A list of meeting participants can be found in the attached Enclosure.The NRC began the meeting with an overview of the NRC's Reactor Oversight Process (ROP),national ROP results, and the Action Matrix in general. This was followed by a discussion of the NRC's assessment of the Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant's performance in calendar year 2006, which was documented in the March 2, 2007, end-of-cycle assessment letter recorded in ADAMS as Accession Number ML070610192. The NRC also discussed upcoming inspections and activities at the Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant.As part of this regulatory performance meeting, Nuclear Management Company responded tothe NRC's assessment and discussed Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant's plans for future improvements. /RA/Bruce L.
