Thislettercompletes ourpreviousresponsetoIEBulletinNo.79-07,AEP:NRC:00186, datedApril24,1979.Asnotedearlier,wewereinformedbyWestinghouse thatintheoriginalanalysisof24individual pipinglinesperformed priortoNovember1971,anearlierversionoftheWESTDYNprogramwhichincorporated thealgebraic sumofintramodal responses hadbeenused.However,acompletecheckofourrecords(notpossiblewithintheveryshorttimeallowedtopreparetransmittal AEP:NRC:00186) hasshownthat23ofthe24pipinglineshadbeensubse-quentlyreanalyzed usingtheabsolutesumationortheSRSStechnique.

Thesupportdesignforall23lineswasbasedonthereanalysis doneusingthecorrectmethodofsummation ofseismicforces.We,thus,concludethatthesepipingsystemsandtheirsupportsarecapableof'ithstanding theseismicevent.PleasenotethatouroriginalsearchtoprepareAEP:NRC:00186 haduncovered only19individual pipinglinesthathadbeenreanalyzed.

Theremaining pipingsystemthatstillrequiredreanalysis wasthe14"pressurizer surgeline(seeTableIofAttachment IIItoReference (1)).Thereanalysis hasbeencompleted byWestinghouse andtheresultsareasshowninAttachment I.Asnotedintheattachment, allthestressesforthepipingandthepipesupportsarewithintheallowable limit(onlya10.31.increaseintheseismicstress)and,thus,capableofwithstanding theseismicevent.
