MONTICELLO NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT Docket No. 50-263 License No. DPR-22 Request for Authorization of a Change to Provisional Operating License No. DPR-22 Dated July 8, 1974 Attached are three originals and 37 conformed copies of a Request for Autho-rization of a Change to Provisional Operating License No. DPR-22 Dated July 8, 1974. This request has been reviewed by the Monticello Operations Comittee and Safety Audit Committee.

As discussed in the attachment, we are requesting an increase in our licens d inventory of byproduct material in the amount of 250 millicuries of krypton 85.

This isotope will allow us to verify industry data used in the calibration of the reactor building vent monitor. To proceed with our plans in a timely manner, we request that this change be authorized by August 23, 1974. No other changes have been requested in the byproduct material inventory permitted by the most recent amendment to the license (Amendment No. 4 issued June 17, 1974).

4 In a June 17, 1974 letter from K R Goller (USAEC) to L 0 Mayer (NSP) we were requested to provide information on byproduct material and special nuclear material pursuant to Regulatory Citide 1.70.3 as a supplement to our application for a full-term operating license. We intend to address that request af ter the more urgent matter above has been enacted.
