Discussion The applicant indicated that the question is clear.
The discussion centered on scoping in Section 2.5 with respect to the station blackout scoping boundary. Specifically, the scope of license renewal shall include the switchyard breakers on the switchyard end of the two GDC 17 required circuits between the switchyard and the plant Class 1E busses. Figures 2.5-1 and 2.5-2 of the Beaver Valley LRA include the switchyard breaker, but the LRA text excludes them from boundary scope. This issue is specifically addressed in proposed License Renewal Interim Staff Guidance, LR-ISG-2008-01. The applicant indicated that this was an omission and the breakers are in scope and the text will be corrected.

REQUESTS FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION BEAVER VALLEY POWER STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2 LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION JULY 1, 2008 The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or the staff) and representatives of FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company held a telephone conference call on July 1, 2008, to discuss and clarify the following requests for additional information (RAIs) concerning the Beaver Valley Power Station (Beaver Valley), Units 1 and 2, license renewal application (LRA).

RAI 2.5-1 Clarify the description of the electrical scoping boundary in the Beaver Valley license renewal application, Section 2.5 to include the first breaker as described in ISG 2008-01.
