SUMMARY
OF THE MARCH 2009 ANNUAL ASSESSMENT OPEN-HOUSE PUBLIC MEETING On March 31, 2009, at 6:30 p.m., the NRC conducted an Annual Assessment Open-House Meeting at the Shippingport Community Building in Shippingport, PA. The NRC conducted the open house meeting to discuss the NRCs assessment of the safety performance of the Beaver Valley Units 1 and 2 for the calendar year 2008.
A notice of the open-house meeting was issued on March 18, 2009, and was posted on the NRCs external (public) web page (ADAMS Accession No. ML090771222).
The NRC presented posterboards and was available to discuss its assessment of the safety performance of Beaver Valley Units 1 and 2 for the period of January 1 through December 31, 2008, as documented in our letter dated March 3, 2009 (ADAMS Accession No. ML090620768).
A number of local officials and FENOC employees attended the open-house and were offered the opportunity to question the NRC regarding FENOCs performance and the role of the agency in ensuring safe plant operations.
