SUMMARY

OF THE MAY 2010 ANNUAL ASSESSMENT OPEN-HOUSE PUBLIC MEETING On May 4, 2010, at 6:00 p.m., the NRC conducted an Annual Assessment Open-House Meeting at the Shippingport Community Building in Shippingport, PA. The NRC conducted the open house meeting to discuss the NRC's assessment of the safety performance of the Beaver Valley Units 1 and 2 for the calendar year 2009.

A notice of the open-house meeting was issued on April 6, 2010, and was posted on the NRC's external (public) web page (ADAMS Accession No. ML100960041).

The NRC presented posterboards and was available to discuss its assessment of the safety performance of Beaver Valley Units 1 and 2 for the period of January 1 through December 31, 2009, as documented in our letter dated March 3, 2010 (ADAMS Accession No. ML100621324).

The NRC posterboards presented included background on the Reactor Oversight Process (ROP). The NRC information presented on posterboards are available on ADAMS (ADAMS Accession No. ML101410137).

Two members of the public, three state officials and six FENOC employees attended the open house and were offered the opportunity to question the NRC regarding FENOC's performance and the role of the agency in ensuring safe plant operations.
