Beaver Valley Power Station, Unit Nos. 1 and 2 BV-1 Docket No. 50-334, License No. DPR-66 BV-2 Docket No. 50-412, License No. NPF-73 Reply to Request for Additional Information for the Review of the Beaver Valley Power Station, Units 1 and 2, License Renewal Application (TAC Nos. MD6593 and MD6594) and License Renewal Application Amendment No. 16 Reference 1 provided the FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC) License Renewal Application (LRA) for the Beaver Valley Power Station (BVPS). During a telephone conference call with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) on July 1, 2008, NRC requested additional information from FENOC regarding the BVPS license renewal integrated plant assessment in Section B.2.5 of the BVPS LRA.

The Attachment provides the FENOC reply to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission request for additional information. The Enclosure provides Amendment No. 16 to the BVPS License Renewal Application.

ATTACHMENT L-08-225 Reply to Request for Additional Information Regarding Beaver Valley Power Station, Units 1 and 2, License Renewal Application, Section 2.5 Page 1 of 1 Section 2.5 Question RAI 2.5-1 Clarify the description of the electrical scoping boundary in LRA Section 2.5 to include the first breaker as described in ISG 2008-01.

RESPONSE RAI 2.5-1 FENOC intended the electrical scoping boundary description for recovery of offsite power following station blackout to include the first breaker within the Switchyard. LRA Section 2.5 is revised to clarify that the first breakers in the Switchyard (breakers 92 and 83 for Unit 1, and breakers 85 and 94 for Unit 2) are included in the scope of license renewal.

See the Enclosure to this letter for the revision to the BVPS LRA.

Section 2.5, page 2.5-2, section titled "Evaluation Boundaries," 2 nd paragraph, is revised to read:

"ForBVPS, recovery of offsite power following station blackout is dependent upon medium-voltage insulated cable, Switchyard bus, breakers, transmission conductors, and high voltage insulators that connect the plant electrical distributionsystem to the offsite AC power source via the station service transformers. The supply of offsite power to the plant electrical distribution system is within the scope of License Renewal from and including the first breakers in the switchyard (breakers92 and 83 for Unit 1, and breakers 85 and 94 for Unit 2) from the plant electrical distributionsystem, as shown on Figures 2.5-1 and 2.5-2. Switchyard bus, transmission conductors, high-voltage insulators,and connections connecting Switchyard breakers and station service transformersare subject to aging management review. Medium-voltage cables and connections, connecting station service transformers and nonsafety buses are subject to aging management review. Medium-voltage cables and connections connecting nonsafety buses to the safety buses are subject to aging management review."
